Allow standard users to install programs?

How can I allow non-admin users to download and install programs without being prompted for an admin password? I'm always having problems when they're trying to download even a safe program but they get a message prompting them for the admin password otherwise they'll have limited functionality of the program

To my knowledge, this cannot be done. There may be some 3rd party software that customizes the admin prompts to auto-accept installations, but other than that, this is a no-go.

The admin account keeps people from downloading a bunch of stuff. If you want to install stuff, do it now (if you can) so that everyone can use the programs without asking you to download them as it comes up.

I installed everything I needed last night, however I'm still getting password prompts when normal users want to use the programs though.

Type "user account control" in the start menu (use the administrator account) and click it at the top. Change the UAC settings. Lower it a little so that it doesn't prompt you for everything, only the things you want. See if this does the trick. Normal programs shouldn't require a prompt to use it. Say you download and install quicktime, itunes, adobe reader and flash with the admin account. All programs should be able to be used freely. It may be that the addons are not installed to the limited user accounts, but if that is the case, then they should be able to be installed freely by the limited user himself. Is there a one time prompt or is it every time?

You might consider (if it is a one time prompt), if there is no other solution, to going in to each user account and using each program, typing in the admin password as you go so that it stores the permission.

Just to make sure, this is a local computer, not a networked computer, right?
