Alt Tab and Windows Key not working

I found that it was the Sony PC Companion process that I had to end from the Processes tab of the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to get Alt + Tab working again.

I don't have anything like this.

It seems to have gone away on its own.

I know it's been a while for this thread. Issue seems to have gone away, no idea how or why. Still no idea what caused it. At least its gone.

I was having this exact problem the last week or so and after searching around, it seems that there's a myriad of applications that will cause this problem. I solved my issue today by closing all applications I could think of, then individually killing processes (that weren't system32 processes) until I found what it was. However it seems for some the problem is more serious and could be indicative of system damage.

In my case it turned out to be the drivers and software used by the microsoft xbox 360 wireless adapter for connecting a 360 controller to one's pc.

I had the same problem. Turned out that the SpeedFan process I run must have bugged out. Using task manager to terminate that process fixed the issue (thanks Mally442). I re-loaded speedfan after killing it, and alt-tab is still working.
