always getting failed updates, shows error code 80070057

hey everyone, i'm using windows 7 home premium, but when i want to update my windows it always failed, it says error code of 80070057 . but those occurs on update for hotfixes and security update, updates like ms silverlight and ms office ran just fine, why is that?

i have already downloaded the windows 7 x64 system readiness tool and i have managed to install it. but it also the same fail when i tries to update my windows, even i have downloaded windows 7 SP 1 x64 (903 mb approx.) and i failed to install it, it says the error was "error data is invalid", did you happen to know why?

why does when i want to do sfc /scannow it says windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation? it is stuck on 12%

It could be a stuck MSI installer. Open a command prompt and run as administrator. type
reg delete HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftSQMClient WindowsDisabledSessions /va /f using copy/paste then hit enter, close command prompt and reboot. Now try the updates again.

I'm sorry roadrunner, but that command is invalid :) maybe something is missing with that command

i'm sorry because i dont have a dvd of windows 7 of my own because this windows version is OEM, and unfortunately i dont have a system restore points to the state where there is no problem with windows update. and i am in INDONESIA.

I have tried about your solution, but when it comes to SFC part where i have to put sfc /scannow command on cmd, it only runs to 12% then it says windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation
