Amazing, again impossible to install Nvidia Drivers!!!!

I could not tell that at all Joker.... btw- I have installed each of the last 10 or more versions of nVidia drivers without a single hitch. I also switched video cards a few weeks back from 2x 8800 GT in SLi to a single GTX 285 2 GB OC card and again, not a single hitch. All has worked absolutely perfect every single time.
When you had you 8800s I imagiane you ran them in SLI with the 190.62 drivers correct? Reason I ask is I can't get my 9800gts to run in SLI in the 7100RC buid of 7. Everytime it tells me one or more programs need to close do you want to close them>? If I click yes then the Nview control panel closes and resolution goes t 800x600 with black boaarders and no SLI. I have been trying to find why for days the only thing I can figure, since people are running SLI in Win7 I'm thinking their all running the 76xx RTM. Any ideas? Thanks

I'm thinking their all running the 76xx RTM. Any ideas? Thanks

Can I ask why anyone wouldn't be? If all versions before 7600 have been betas, I would assume that's where of the trouble with W7 stems from, people trying to get betas to work like a RTM version. Just a thought.

Have you tried any of the Dox's Optimised NVIDIA Drivers

In my understanding, the issue doesnt lie with the version being a Beta or RTM..I had a very similar problem of being not able to install my drivers for my GTX 260 in a Windows 7 7600 64 bit..I tried various things to get it to work, like clearing BIOS CMOS,even wrote to my graphics card customer support, tried installing various drivers too, but all in vain. I was siumply stuck to some driver i assume 185.03 WDDm preinstalled from windows itself..i was trying to update it to the latest 190.38..

After waiting for a few more days n using all my trial n error options i gave up..then one fine day while going through windows updates, i had an update for my graphics card to the latest driver although it came under optional updates..i was relieved.,something told me its gonna work..downloaded and installed the update and there i had it, my latest 190.38 driver straight from windows updates..
so IMO guys, just go ahead n try the option of windows updates..if there are any drivers which are out there which is compatible with Win 7 then windows itself would procure n update it..
Hope this has been of some help..

Well first off if I could have found and installed the 7600 rtm I would have. Unfortunately I couldn't secondly the Dox driver is the 185.85 driver which is not the current 190.62 driver and only supports up to the 9600. .

Well I managed to get a copy of the x64 7600 RTM installed and still when I go to enable sli i get the message some programs need to close if click yes then Nview closes and back to the 800x 600 resolution. I can't seem to find anywhere that someone else is having the same problem and am totaly at a loss for what to do. I'm running the lastest bios 1101 Asus P5nd and the 190.62 whql drivers.Reseated cards, changed cards positios in PCI-e slots. reinstalled drivers and only once got the bubble sli ready ect. I guess I'll have to wait for the next driver. The thing is it works perfect in XP! Lost in space. fabe

I am currently running 2 9800gt's in SLI on 7100RC Nvidia driver 190.38 and everything is working fine. I did install the control panel and the PhysX separately however.

I FIXED IT AND I DONT HAVE ANY IDEA HOW.

---

Although what I did. This would make a bad research since when doing a research you make one adjustment at a time and to a test, but I went all in and.. it worked..

- Remove driver using Device manager.
- Reboot and press F8(can be different by motherboards) to enter the screen where I can pick safe mode ect..
- Choose the 2nd or 3rd last chose that sounded something like this "disable driver signature somethin somethin"
- Booted and windows installed the WDDM driver.
- I installed the driver I wanted, 190.62, and it got stuck on about 30%, than I was asked to install physx driver, and when all was done I got "Driver has not been modified" the same error I used to get, athough now nVidia control panel appears in my control panel.

Thank you all for the tips, really helped me out and probably one of the reasons why I didn't blow a hole thru my comp with a shotgun..

I'd also like to add that I got a short fuse, if something doesn't work that should so very simply work I tent to snap. Kthx nVidia.
