Solved AMD 950 chipset RAID drivers TRIM support?

Hi guys,

Looked all over the place for a definitive answer to this question:

Do AMD RAID drivers support TRIM for SSDs within an array, or do they support TRIM for an SSD connected to a SATA port set to RAID but not part of an array, or they do not not support TRIM at all when SSDs connected to a port set to RAID?

I've read so many conflicting posts that I'm at a loss!

I know the latest Intel AHCI/RAID drivers do, but I don't believe AMD has TRIM supported in RAID yet.

When you say "I know the latest Intel AHCI/RAID drivers do..." you mean that I can connect an SSD (not member of an array) to a SATA III port set to RAID and have TRIM working?
Sorry if I'm being dense, but I'm trying to get things set up right the first time for a change.

One other question: I read in several places that Intel drivers do support TRIM in a RAID array and that it is possible to use Intel's RAID drivers by flashing a modified BIOS with a modified RAID OPROM. Do you think this might work? If so, how risky would it be?

Only if your motherboard has an Intel chipset. If it has an AMD chipset, then you will not be able to use Intel drivers on it.

If this is for the ASUS M5A97 EVO mobo in your specs, then it has an AMD 970/SB950 chipset.

I guessed as much. I must have misunderstood some of the posts regarding the use of Intel drivers in AMD chipsets through modified BIOS.

I wouldn't recommend trying that with your BIOS. It could easily turn your motherboard into a paper weight.

Yeah, that's what I thought when going through the posts at ROG.
Those guys do some extreme things though, and they don't seem to be worried about trying just about anything.
Seems like either they don't care about their hardware dying on them or they go through it faster than I go through girlfriends!
