Solved AMD ATI Radeon "Varibright": how to command-line turn off?

have the latest AMD driver installed on my thinkpad but I loathe loading .NET 4 just to run CCC for one reason only: to disable varibright.
Anyone know what the registry key is for this? or some way to command-line turn off?

not sure if this will help, I assume you already tried this , I found that varibrite is software based ,so it can be disabled in the ati software ,this site shows how ,How to enable AMD® Vari-Bright™ technology to save power

yep - problem is, in the latest version they built on .NET 4.0, and something about it is odd. I have some piece of .NET 4 already installed - not sure which, as a program I use a lot required it. but the CCC newest version will not execute because it requires .NET 4.0. I have a very fouled up win7 on another system that is all the result of just this sort of thing - trying to install full .NET 4.0 on a win7 x64 ultimate that was just happy and productive, though loaded, until I "installed" .NET 4.0 - after that a lot of things broke. never could resolve.

hence the question! hoping to find it in the registry and default to the "disabled" position.

solved

got it fixed.
apparently just that one release of ccc was buggy in how it was doing the .NET version check loop. I picked up the 12.11 beta, used it to first uninstall the CCC and the developer kit. closed out and rebooted, then ran it again for Install, selected custom options and just installed the CCC. this one works.

that's a lot of work to turn off a feature that NOBODY likes or wants.
