AMD Driver

I've installed a HD 6950, but before I had an integrated 4290. For some reason, when I try to change my resolution is reports the maximum is 1600x1200 and it's 1680x1050. I've tried installing the driver several times on Windows Update, on the CD and it won't fix it. Plus my screen looks weird.

Have you tried turning the the onboard off in the BIOS?
which device is listed in the Device Manager?

I've not turned it off in the BIOS, but I went in there and noticed that the "Primary" GPU was the PCI Card.
1600x1200 doesn't look bad, but even in the monitor settings it says 1680x1050.

I'm no expert with Graphic cards but could it be that when both devices are running that you get a lesser resolution?

I always download the latest drivers from AMD. But I tried download drivers that appeared in Windows Update (Failed) trying to install the drivers from the CD which didn't make a difference, and the drivers from AMD didn't either.

Did you remember to uninstall the current driver before adding the card? It realy shouldn't make a difference as both the onboard and the new card use the exact same driver, but anything is possible as can be seen by the problem you are having. If you didn't then Windows should have just ignored the onboard and installed/updated the driver for the new card from the existing driver install (or at least it has for me on the odd occasion when I enable the onboard on mine for an extra monitor connection).

definitely doesn't help matters any. Others may have a different opinion but I am one of those that will not and will always recommend not to install any video card driver update from Windows Update. Things have got better since the XP days, but they can and do still cause problems for quite a few people.

now before going the complicated route of removing all the previous driver installs let's start with something easy. Have you re-installed or checked Windows Update (this is one of the few drivers I am OK with from there) the monitor driver? LG doesn't have a Windows 7 version but they do have a Vista one that supports both 32 bit and 64 bit,

If that doesn't fix it then there are a few ways to get rid of all the previous driver installs to get it back to the default Windows driver.

The Windows Update drivers didn't even succeed.
Right now, I've fixed the issue, by adding my resolution into CCC. But I think I made a mistake when uninstalling the previous driver and installing the new one.
When I received my card, I installed it straight away, went into Windows, it recognized it, restarted, and then I started receiving problems, like my system kept crashing.
I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers, it didn't work, but even when the drivers had uninstalled, nothing seemed to change. Aero was working (Well, I have a custom theme) and the resolution was the same.
The card is working fine, I think it might be the driver. As of right now, everything is OK. I don't think I'll mind having a weird resolution setup, as long as the crashing doesn't proceed.
Umm...how do I install a monitor driver? I've got 3 files...

Windows 7 probably has a newer version included than that Vista driver, that or it may have been installed through Windows Update.

By the way did you remember to disable the onboard video after installing the new card? If not with it being an AMD card not only will the onboard still be active, but there is another option in the bios under,

Advanced - Chipset - 890GX Configuration - Internal Video Configuration

called Surround View (that defaults to auto), that allows for the use of the onboard as well as the video card for extra display connections (it does get disabled when the onboard is set to disabled).
