I updated the driver for my R9 290 yesterday, and now my drivers aren't detecting.

When I boot the system, ASUS's GPU Tweak says it cannot load the driver .dlls. Running the AMD autodetect driver utility results in "We were unable to find a driver for your system". The advanced settings under "screen resolution" (right clicking on desktop) shows "unavailable" for every entry under "adapter", and there is no "VGA Adapter" heading in device manager.

The "sleep" and "hibernate" functions are also grayed out, which I assume is due to the screensaver not functioning (it says the card can't run Direct3d).

I have tried uninstalling all of the AMD drivers and reinstalling both new and older drivers, but the problem persists.

I'm really stumped on what to do here. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried Display Driver Uninstaller?

It will reboot you into safe mode and wipe out all traces of the AMD drivers, then you can attempt reinstalling the Omega drivers.

Thanks for the reply - I ran Display Driver Uninstaller in safe made, and reinstalled the graphics drivers. Unfortunately, this had no effect and the situation did not change.

Hmm...and all this happened after just updating drivers? You haven't removed the card or anything recently?

Yeah, I just updated the drivers and nothing else. I did reseat the card after the problems started though. I'm going to rerun the driver uninstaller and try installing the previous drivers.

I fixed the issue! I checked to see if the uninstaller had removed the AMD and ATI directories, and it didn't, so I manually deleted them. Then, I reran the uninstaller in safe mode, but removed Nvidia Drivers as well (I had an Nvidia card before). This finally allowed me to properly install the lastest Omega driver, and everything's back to normal.

Thanks a lot for your help, I really appreciate it.
