hey guys, unfortunately, I couldn't get this answered over at the drivers section, I think people who handle GPU's more frequently could be able to.. basically the question is:

I've been having some dual monitor set up crashes lately, and I've been meaning to reinstall my AMD drivers, however.. I'm a little scared about this process. The AMD uninstaller says it will uninstall ALL AMD software and it ''may'' uninstall chipset drivers as well. This is an issue for me since I have an AMD CPU/Motherboard combo and I'm afraid it might make my computer to stop functioning.

What do I do if I just want to uninstall the drivers for the GPU only? Nothing else.

Thank you.

Can't you just go through device manager and do it?

Or go to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository and delete it. All your drivers are there.

As I said. That method would wipe all my drivers. Including motherboard drivers since this is an AMD CPU/GPU combination.

Don't worry about it.
Uninstall as AMD's uninstaller says. When you reboot, you'll be using the default Microsoft drivers. That's good enough until you reinstall the AMD GPU and chipset combo package.

Are you sure it's that simple?

Should I reinstall the chipset drivers that came with my motherboard or just go straight to the newest AMD drivers?

Im marking this as solved.

Things to note that some people might fight useful. (This applies if you have an AMD CPU/GPU combo only)

1.-When using the AMD uninstaller it is possible it will leave files that -WILL- cause system instability after the reboot they prompt you to do. In my case after doing the uninstall and rebooting, my system would crash to a BSOD from an atisys file no matter the output. GPU or Motherboard.
I was able to overcome this by taping F8 during boot and having the system boot in low resolution mode. This let me run drivercleaner.net and scan for leftovers, and trust me. There were A LOT.

2.-Since this program will uninstall everything, it will include the chipset/AHCI/USB 3.0 drivers, which ironically do not come with the newest AMD drivers at all, and windows will -not- install them with it's default drivers. However the system will be able to boot ,and as long as you have USB 2.0 you will be able to operate the computer enough to download the chipset drivers from:

AMD Chipset Drivers

After that the computer booted up with no hiccups and nothing else missing. I am yet to see if this painstaking process will fix my dual monitor crash issues, but right now I'm just glad I managed to get this sucker to boot after believing AMD drivers had once again bricked my system.

And the worst part? I still love AMD.

My system must be a fluke then because that's what happens with mine. I get MS drivers when my AMD package is totally uninstalled.
