Cool. I always preferred AMD over Intel, if for no other reason than it simply was NOT Intel.

Windows 7 Ultimate
This will be good for the end users with this making Intel to step up their game too I hope, plus it's also nice too see massive interest in Windows 7.

So that new platform will have onboard integrated ATI 4200 graphics on the motherboard. And they are saying those onboard graphics can play DX 10.1 games.. plenty of actual videocards can't play DX10.1 let alone onboard.

right?? I guess you don't have to play them in 10.1 tho. but still.. I prefer my Q9650

Interesting...

Though I should ask: Since they're using "Win 7" and "Gaming" in the same dialogue, then why no DX11? I mean, 10.1 is kind of a moot point, since there are still very few games written to take advantage. And since DX11 is a straight superset, anything being written now will certainly be recompiled for the newer standard.

But whatever: It's an IGP, and therefore a business class machine. Long as it's cheap, boots, and runs forever with litte or no attention, it'll do fine.

{edit} Re-read the article and want to modify my above statement: This little guy should make a very nice HTPC.

My computer has GeForce 8200 IGP, and when I built the system I considered it would be better in GFX and performance over my very old system (AGP 8x Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB). Here was my thinking, my old card was equivalent of a GF6800 (maybe GF6600?), and the IGP was GF8200...2 series newer than the 9600.

But OMG it sucked..well it displayed 3D GFX well..but it cooked it self retarded it ran so hot. I had to RMA my barebones back to Newegg & buy a dedicated card & more powerfull PSU.

YT vids of what was happening with my GF8200 IGP

The best IGP right now is a 9400M from Nvidia. I'd say it's twice as good as the 8200M. If you are on a desktop I would go for a discrete card however. Even the lowest end discrete card will be better than the highest end IGP. On laptop I would stay with IGP for battery life.
