The NDA for performance tests expires on Friday the 22nd. But as a sneak preview, here's something I found over @ Hardforum.com (grain of salt as always):
Dirt 2
1920 x 1080
8x AA, 16x AF
Intel Core-i7 920, 6GB DDR3 Ram
1120 meaning 'Radeon HD 6870'
920 meaning 'Radeon HD 6850'
Comments? =)

pretty good numbers there, but im intrested in the Cayman series, coming late Nov or so they say. I think its called the 6950? It's meant to replace and be better then the 5870.

well in the specs it calls for a 2x 6 pin adapter anyway i dont plan on crossfiring this rig one good gpu is good enough im not trying to break records but i do want a higher gpu with 256bit capability

yea i know older cards but i am talking about the fact im running a hd 5770 diamond card and it is 128 bit i know there are lesser cards that have that but to be as much cost as the card was at the time you would figure ati would make it 256 instead of 128 and you basicly have to buy a high end 5800 gpu to really get the full benefits
other then that im sure the new gpu will be atleast 328 bit and the 6900 series 512bit
Just blows me away whenever you can see the inside blown up picture of what goes into that little silicone chip and what it can do.
And with 25% less silicone, makes you wonder where we'll be in another 4-5 years.
Fabe

Looking forward to seeing how these are against the 5000 series, as even though it's pretty much a refresh, still a lot of improvements going in to it.

It is interesting, considering that the core size keeps shrinking and getting closer to the size of an actual atom yet more stuff still gets piled in to it. And it's estimated that in around 5 or so years time a CPU will be as powerful as a human brain...

It is a good upgrade if a 5770 met your needs. I have a 5770 and will probably go 6850 only because of card length (case size). Most 6850 will only require 1 x 6pin pcei, except the ASUS. 6870 is what I wish I could use.
That card is so cheap WOW! and im expecting a 400.00 budget for my gpu hmmmm I guess im upping my gpu, psu and possible grab a bigger tower Merry Christmas to me
I wonder could i return my psu get credit then use that against a newer psu so i can dual 6 pin this puppy at the time i got a 600watt coolmax to just power up my build and i wasnt going for crossfire so i figured it would do
Now i am having to rethink the whole thing ahhh technology is sweet isn't it ?

This Computer building crap started out years ago as a simple hobby..that has now gotten completely out of hand !!
(It does come in handy though, when everyone in the family wants their own computer)
i dont play crysis and the gpu im shooting for since i can afford a 300.00 one will be a mid rang 6970 if at best im sure crysis would run like a dream but then again
im not worried if it does or not as long as it plays what im gaming now
It seems that Amazon has taken down the page, but if you search for Radeon 6850, you'll see that the results say it's priced at $224, which is actually pretty cheap. Should have saved an extra $70 instead of paying $160 for a HD 5770 (the HD 5770 plays Crysis decently (Very High settings, 4x anti antialiasing) so I'm pretty sure the 6850 can play Crysis)

The thing will do, however, is to get another 5770 and move the 5750 into my other pc to replace the 3870 that is currently in it.
