Is it possible to have an SSD (256 GB) situated outside the PC's box, inside an enclosure of some sort. There would be cables one end of which would be permanantly connected internally to the PC. Those cables would have plugs/sockets at the other end permanantly situated outside the PC's box. This external SSD and its socket/enclosure would be plugged in to the external cable ends when necessary and would act as an additional (bootable) drive? (I have an SSD inside the case, Gigabyte motherboard GA-H81M-S2H, as my C: drive).
I ask because I would be able to use that external SSD as a clone of the C: drive, for use as a bootable backup if the PC fails to boot. During normal operation I would regularly connect the external SSD enclosure to the external cable ends and clone the internal SSD (C: drive) to it to keep the Windows 7 OS on it up to date.
