How long does it take your computers to boot when users start them? Is your IT group getting calls? The problem could be the new software or corporate image, but how can you be sure?

The MaaS360 Boot Analyzer can maintain a history of up to 100 previous boot times, match boot time delays with changes to the computer, perform automated tests for benchmarking, and set thresholds and notify you if the times suddenly increase.

Want to know how much time it takes to boot your system after installing some security patch or a hefty anti-virus suite? You need an efficient system boot analyzer which can silently measure the boot time and can maintain boot time record to help you identify applications which make your system take forever to boot. MaaS 360 Boot Analyzer is a newly developed system boot analyzing utility which not only measures the boot time but also lets you monitor, analyze, and maintain record up to 100 system boot times with date stamps. It plots boot time on line graph, so you can visually analyze the lowest and highest boot time, pinpoint date when your system boot time was relatively longer or smaller then other boots, and check out maximum, minimum and average boot time of your system since first run of MasS 360 Boot Analyzer.


For the first time, click Test Now from Actions menu. It will ask you to specify number of boots for which you want to analyze the boot time. Here, you can enter numbers from 1 – 10. Once done, click OK to reboot the system for defined number of time(s) in order to populate graph with all the boot times. It will show you the time taken from booting the OS to preparing the desktop (with all startup applications and services fully loaded).

In bottom lane, you will see boot time details, such as, current boot number, OS Start and Desktop Ready time, and underneath these details, total boot time in seconds is shown. Since it simply keeps a running history of boot time, it seems that you would have to check it at each boot, to see any change from the last time. This is okay, but it doesn't appear that it analyzes the individual load times for each driver or boot program, so it would not be too useful for a one time diagnostic of the current state of the system...would it?

guess its basic but it works ok mine is set up to monitor 50 boots so i will see how it fairs up. i use sysinternals loadorder to monitor my boot up LoadOrder

Another alternative that measures individual loadtimes of programs/services etc. is Soluto. Quite a decent little program.

i have used soluto but had GUI issues so i will wait till its out of beta (its been in beta for a while now they have been bug fixing)

SO far quite a nice little program that Saluto. No major issues, just one minor quibble that sometimes your wallpaper is shut-off while booting with Saluto but comes right back when finished booting. Other than that, for the average Joe Saluto is great if you want to know what programs are slowing down your boot times, and even gives you a boot times history.

Thanks, but I guess I won't be able to use it, because while it was installing, my firewall popped a warning saying that it had blocked the program from modifying some critical registry key. That is unusual in that the windows of that type that it pops usually ask whether to permit it or not...this one didn't, it just slammed the door on it.

The first time that I tried to open it, it froze the system, requiring a forced restart. The next time that I tried it, the firewall popped the same warning as before, but Soluto appeared to have continued to open, yet when I went to the system tray for access, left clicking did nothing, and right clicking opened a context menu that was inoperative.

I guess that, like some others have said, I will have to wait until it is out of beta.

I gave the free program a try for the delay program which is nice but the programs I delayed all gave me double icons in the system tray? Have you had this happen before, I seen that sometimes Scotty will have double icons but not the actual program.

I tried emailing Bill to see if this is an issue and never heard back from him, nice support

and you will be able to see if there are double start up entries etc.

This utility, which has the most comprehensive knowledge of auto-starting locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login, and shows you the entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other Registry keys. You can configure Autoruns to show other locations, including Explorer shell extensions, toolbars, browser helper objects, Winlogon notifications, auto-start services, and much more. Autoruns goes way beyond the MSConfig utility bundled with Windows Me and XP.

Autoruns' Hide Signed Microsoft Entries option helps you to zoom in on third-party auto-starting images that have been added to your system and it has support for looking at the auto-starting images configured for other accounts configured on a system. Also included in the download package is a command-line equivalent that can output in CSV format, Autorunsc.

You'll probably be surprised at how many executables are launched automatically!

Saluto does not do this.

Just a guess, but it sounds as though the programs with double icons are running double instances of the program. You might install this to check startup entries:
