Hello! I've got a problem with my gadgets. I've made a format of my laptop and I've upgraded my Vista 64 bit to win 7(64bit) home premium. Now it appears that there are several gadgets that are now working and acting weirdly - mainly weather, calendar and and additional gadget from my Kaspersky antivirus. Every time when I'm trying to place one gadget on my desktop- appear two, for example when I'm trying to place a weather gadget, I've got the proper one (in which I have no access to settings) placed where I wanted, and another which looks like a big icon of the gadget and freezes on my desktop in a annoying, "always stay on top" way. I can't turn it of or do anything with the annoying copy, but it disappear after reboot of the system and the aiming gadget is still not working, or it also disappears:huh: I've tried to uninstall them and restore the default ones but its not working.

Is it possible that I'm missing some drivers? or there is something messed up in my registry? Could you please help me?:)

Hello chskylark,

Try these steps :
Go to Start –> Search and type regedit
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Sidebar\Settings
Right Click on the right pan of the registry editor and Create A New DWORD(of 32 Bit Value). Name it “AllowElevatedProcess” and set its value as “1″.
Close the registry

Please share the result..

If the issue still happens, I would suggest you to reinstall the Graphice driver properly...

Thanks for posting your results.
Recommend that you contact Kaspersky about your issue with the gadgets as it would be best to be using the latest version of Kaspersky - they may have a solution on how to make it work with your gadgets.

Regards :)

i had exactly the same problem...what i did to 'rescue' my gadgets is very simple - restore your system to a previous restore point, e.g. the day without weird gadget problems. win 7 itself has the restore function, just select the 'restore point', it works!!!

Missing Kaspersky and Media Center 7 Gadget

After long searching I found that just disabling and Re-enabling Windows Gadgets inside the control panel under add/remove programs does in fact bring the Kaspersky and Media Center gadget back. I'm not sure what happened but all I did was make a registry change to enable booting into ahci mode and when I restarted these gadgets were missing. They are back now.
