Annoying pop-up

I am using IE11 and my opening page is Google Canada. Every time I start IE I get a pop-up asking me to install Chrome so I can browse faster. Can I stop this from happening or is it part and parcel of having Google Canada as my opening page? I could easily switch to bing.com if the worse came to worst but I wanted to check whether someone had a solution first.

Thanks in advance for all help.

Make sure you are malware free, scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free (doesn't hurt to start free Premium trial).

I get a little box in upper left for Installing Chrome, but it is not a pop-up. Part of the web-page.
Go into Internet options - Privacy - make sure Turn on Pop-up blocker is checked. Then go into it's settings and set Blocking level to Med or High (mine is Med - I guess default)

That "Install Google Chrome" box is coded into the webpage.

I don't see it if user agent is swithched.

One way to get rid of it is to change your browser's user agent string. Not recommended for most users as it can break functionality on some websites. It's possible to either randomize user agent or manually select user agent using add ons depending upon which browser is used. Or it can be permanently changed manually.

Best option for most users - leave user agent alone.

Also try https://encrypted.google.com and see if it appears there.
