Annoying updates after clean install

Hello guys.

Recently I installed Windows 7 on my Hard disk because my SSD began failing. Windows Update keeps throwing updates on my computer, and it seems, every time it's installing them inside Windows, my computer begins to stutter just a couple of times. While typing for an example- I've went to Firefox, typed an URL and it made one little lag, and I saw that it said 0% in the taskbar for an update.
Could of course be the superfetch that needs to be balanced. It's usually like that on new builds. I also feel quite a bit of Hard disk activity just while leaving the computer sometimes.

It's not that annoying, but I'm still a bit worried if it's normal or not.

Did you install SP1 after installing Windows?
That will take care of a lot of the updates all at once.

Then I would get all the rest of the Windows updates out of the way before doing other things.

I did a test install with an SP1 ISO into a VM and still had 48 Updates to apply.

Yep, SP1 came with the installation of Windows 7 in the beginning. But is it normal your computer would be a little slow during this 'week' update period. Now I just finished some .NET updates.

I figured there would be several needed/added since the SP1 release.
Seems like an SP2 will be coming soon- maybe.

Getting them done makes the most sense to me.

The .Net updates would be at least from November.

There were no .Net updates for December.

Manually run Windows Update and get as many as possible.
Of cours if you get a bunch of updates listed I wouldn't install them all at once.
One or two at a time.

After manual update when Win Update says you are up to date there still may be an occasional stray update- it is possible- overall it should be finished.

Yeah, they're the old ones.
But would it be normal to feel a bit slowness during this period of installing updates?

Sometimes the system is slow during updates especially during install.

Internet connection will possibly slow while downloading the updates.

That is why you don't do other things when doing Windows Updates.

Get the updates downloaded, installed and do the restarts when prompted.

The .NET updates slow the system for a while. They can take an hour or so to bed in with high CPU usage.
