Hey guys I've run into a problem...just did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit...did the MSCONFIG check the box with max memory...that actually made the number in the box go to 0, left me with 2.84 GB RAM usable. I unchecked the MAX RAM box whilst leaving the processor box in MSCONFIG checked and set to 2, restarted and it bumped me up to 3.84 GB of ram usable...where do I go from here? P.S. the bios is very basic and primitive on this laptop, cant adjust anything other than [like] devices to boot order...

Hi.

3.84 out of 4 seems good to me. That's 96%. Your pc will not perform one ounce better if somehow you made it 4.

That being said, look in the bios for a memory remapping setting.

What you can do is bump that bus speed up to like 205 for a very minor overclock on the RAM and CPU. That will do good. (You could probably go far more than that, but that's all up to you. If you go high, you're looking for bsod problems.)

Yeah there just isn't anything like that in the BIOS really :( Why is it that W7 treats RAM in this manner? Why not use all of the 4GB/to its full potential?

Yes. Going by his WEI score, I bet it has onboard video in use. That's why.

Why not use all of the 4GB/to its full potential?

The onboard video has to get memory from somewhere. I don't think there are any integrated Intel graphics that have dedicated memory, only shared system memory.
