O.k. I have been trying to work through this for 2 weeks.
New HP7900 DC. No cards, only whats on the board. COre 2 Duo E8400 at 3GHz. Using 2mb stick in channel 1 only. Memtest x86 checks out fine. DVD and SATA HDD set to IDE. Digital river ISO's burned at 1x speed. USB drive failed. Created multiple USB's with the Microsoft USB burner on 64 bit machine as well. Installed 32 bit and downloaded MS Upgrade tool. Shows hardware is 64 bit capable. Not sure what else to do. Is there a preferred ISO that seems to work best? Halts at 27% Also tried the start on DVD switch to USB and the restart trick to no avail. I'm about ready to just say the heck with it and keep the 32 bit that came with the machine. Oh, I also reformatted the HDD.

Am I missing anything?

Hi,

This sounds like a bad 64 bit ISO. Download a fresh copy from here and burn it to a 4GB USB2 stick using this.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards,
Golden
