Another boot problem

Running Windows 7 (I think it's Home Basic but I can't check right now) I tried to connect the laptop to my TV to display an English language program for foreigners. I didn't know how to do it so I experimented, and finding "projector" in the control panel I clicked "projector only" at which time the screen went blank....and has stayed blank after the "Starting Windows" icon thru repeated attempts to boot. I don't know how to get the video back onto my screen.

Assuming I can get the video back I'll still need to know how to properly connect to and adjust the TV, using a VGA connector at the laptop end and a HDMI at the TV end of the cable.

Both the computer and the TV have RCA ports and I wonder if that might be a better choice of cable for connecting the two.

Thanks much in advance.

Hey, which one of you already fixed it LOL? After 4 days of nothing the video just popped up in a normal display. Now I only need to know how to connect to the TV to display computer programs on the TV

I went to The Future to fix it for you ;)

What output connectors are on your computer ?

What input connectors are on the TV ?

The Toshiba laptop has that blue VGA jobbie and also has RCA ports but I couldn´t tell you if they are input or output.

The TV also has two HDMI ports, one labelled DVI in and one unlabelled; It also has the following ports;

RGB IN (PC)
RS-232C IN (CONTROL)
AUDIO IN (RGB/DVI)

You probably need a converter cable then. Make sure you get the right type for each end of the cable.

Doc, I HAVE that cable. I just don't know which of the two HDMI port in the TV to plug into and what to do to configure both the computer and TV to desplay on the TV.

I would try the DVI in first, then right click on Desktop for Screen resolution, & see if it will detect TV as a 2nd monitor.

Does your TV remote have a Menu button to choose type of INPUT ?

Under screen resolution the only connection election is for connection to a projector. Of course, when the cable is connected and I right click to try to get screen resolution I can't because the screen goes black

Tomorrow I'll get ahold of a set of RGA connectors and see if they work.

Oh, by the way, the input button on the control only sends the input selection to the TV where there are various selections including both HDMI ports, RGA and RGB connectors. None of them bring forth video to the TV.

This is a new state of the art LG TV.
