Yup - get all the drivers for Vista from HP and see if there is a set of Chipset drivers and / or modem drivers (assuming you have an integrated modem).
Might also apply to BlueTooth and / or wireless drivers, too....
I have a agere modem and I am running Windows 7. When I try to send a fax, all I get is "There are currently no modems installed on this computer, do you want to install a modem?..." I press yes..it thinks for a bit and brings me back to the "Install a fax modem option." When I check the device driver it says that the modem is working properly and I query the modem and it checks out. No device conflicts either.
Any suggestions? Help!!
In the Windows Fax and Scan, have you associated your device with F&S? Go to Tools --> Fax Settings --> Select fax device button. From there you'll need to select the modem to be able to use it....
I cannot walk through it much further as I do not have a modem installed in this rig....but I *hope* that gets you to the right place....

John, thank you for your prompt reply. I did what you asked Tools>..etc. but when I press on fax settings it just sits there like it was a dead button. So I assume for some reason it is not registering the device or it is not discoverable from windows fax and scan. I went as far as to create an exception in windows firewall for wfs.exe, since I am a newbie to all this I admit I have incorrectly or incompletely done this. I saw on another post the individual made an exception and this is all it took. I will try to add an exception but if you have any other ideas I will definately try them out. Thanks a bunch for all you help!!
