I have Win7 64-bit. I can make a new folder named New Folder but can't change the name because it says it "can't find it". I have the Take Ownership app which has always worked before but not now. I saw the thread that was similar which told the person to go to the Vista forum and see a post with a download called NewFolderfix.reg. I tried that but Windows said not everything could be copied to the registry. I tried restarting and it was still the same. I get very frustrated with Windows' control-freak issues. Any tips gratefully accepted!!!

Finally found the answer on another site and am posting it in case others have this problem. When I try to rename, I get an error screen saying "Can not find it" and two choices, "Try Again" and "Cancel". Clicking on try again works! Weird but a solution!

No, I didn't try that. Thanks for the tip! I wish doing something as simple as renaming didn't require going on a forum to figure it out!!

If your system files have become corrupted, sfc may be able to fix them.

If your problem isn't due to corrupt system files, you will need to try something else to fix it. :(
