Hi all,
First let me say how grateful we are for your knowledge and expert advice on this forum. It has certainly saved me a few trips to the repair shop and improved my knowledge (not that it stays in long hence trawl through threads again) My problem is more of an annoyance than anything else, I didn’t like all those icons on the desk top so added tool bars to my task bar as per attachment and then locked it.
I switch my computer off every day except when doing scheduled scans etc and now and again the tool bars vanish and I have to redo them, I was wondering if was doing something wrong?
I made them as follows right click task bar, unlock, right click, new tool bar, find what I want and when finished lock the task bar, they stay for a few days and then disappear.
I hope you kind folks will have a solution to this minor problem.

Thanks
Grahame

The taskbar toolbars are a special link to a folder containing shortcuts to the programs or other objects, you wish to access.
In order for the system to operate the folder of links has to remain in the same place as when the link was made, all I can suggest is that thois is moving somehow
I use an additional toolbar for my recycle bin and this has been in place for many months without issue so the system can work - I create a folder of the root of my data drive and point to this - any shortcuts I place in the folder appear in the toolbar

Thanks for the quick reply Nigel, the 3 tool bars are all folders in my D drive and haven't been moved since.Maybe I shoud move them back to my C drive and see if that helps.

Also sorry for posting on the wrong thread :o

Putting the toolbars back in C seems to have solved the problem. I think we can call this thread closed

Just as an explanation attempt - it may be because the D partition was not 'ready' when Windows got to the point of loading toolbars, so it appeared as though the folders were missing...
