:D I think that all the virus occured on windows vista will occur will occur on windows 7 and a bit more. So watch your chops ....

The free best anti virus that are compatible with 7 are Avast and AVG
BUT if you want a really good anti virus you should get vista kapersky or Norton(big heavy program, which will cause disturbance)

Norton is a big No No in my books. I've had nothing buy trouble from that bloated mess of a program. Including myself ive been asked to get rid of viruses and trojans about 5-6 times, funny enough 4 of those times the computer had norton on it -.-

AVG combined with spybot Search and Destroy is my award winning key combination to a clean pc :)

Have you tried the Norton internet security 2009?
It will run with less resources and you do not need any other security suite alongwith it...;)

Compare results. It might be biased since i hate norton but,

Norton has a monthly subscription, AVG does not
5 years virus free with AVG, Norton pretty much failed within 6 months
Resources that AVg use < Norton's resources

IMO its clear which to have... and it has no annoying please pay now alerts -.-

I had Norton 360 pre-installed on my laptop. After the end of the evaluation period, I uninstall it : It broke my Internet connection and Antivir found 10 virus that Norton did not see.
I let to you guess what I think from Norton...

Microsoft Forefront (free, from the SystemCenter eval CD), and the built-in Windows Defender in Vista/Win7. Works great, zero problems. Why bother with third party stuff that is either expensive (Kaspersky) or of dubious quality (AVG Free)

You can run the kaspersky betas for free all year round, if i'm not mistaken.

Your old beta key will be disabled once a new version is released however, forcing you to update to the newer beta.

You can't claim you have 0 virii while using AVG, period.
I installed Symantec corp after a user had been using AVG 8 for 2 years.

Symantec found 10 trojans, and no they weren't in AVG's quarantine :P

Looks like that was the cause of his victimisation via credit card fraud.

I didn't say norton.
I said Symantec corporate.

Symantec is considerably better at detecting virii than Norton Home releases.

EDIT: also, the 2 best anti-spyware apps are Lavasofts' Ad-aware and Spybot search and destroy.

Scan your PC with your chosen anti-spyware/malware software (JUST scan, don't clean) and then scan it with these two.

You'll consistantly see them detecting more.

Eight years of using AVG Free on over 100 Windows computers, 98, 98SE, ME, 2000Pro, Xp, XP_Pro, etc, & now Win7. I won't say I have had any Virii, but I would say it's done it's job 98% of the time. I also use a combo of others, SpyBot, SpySweeper, Lavasoft, & recently MalWareBytes cleaned up a messy computer, somebody had accidentally infected. :geek:
