Any good dynamic compressor for sound editing?

i need a software that can perform dynamic compression.
say, to make CD music sound like a pop music FM station.

i need it for sound (wave files) editing purpose.

There are 2 versions--one is the standalone product and the other is a plug-in for Audacity.

Both work well. Use a medium setting to begin with and do some experimentation.

I use it sometimes when I make CDs for car listening. Compression makes the quieter parts of the song louder, so they will still be noticeable in a car with wind noise, traffic noise, engine noise, etc.
