Any one an Excel wizard with times and dates?

I have items in form dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss. If I want to, say, add 30 seconds and post the
new dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss in the new cell, how do I go about it; please? Adding 00:00:30 to the value contained in the original cell does not work, as naively I thought it might.

Hi,

Use the TIME and TIMEVALUE functions.

For example, if you have a time 14:45:50 in A1 and want to add 30 seconds to this time and place result in A2..

A2=A1+TIMEVALUE("00:00:30")

There is a little mistake on Tanya's formula, it should be exactly like this if you have cell b2 selected:
=a2+timevalue("00:00:30")

It's all in the interpretation.

My formula was actually correct since I was saying the result would be in A2, and the original TIME is in A1, as I stated.

It is quite common to specify the result to the left of the formula, at least in my experience and interaction with people on other excel forums.

Read it as The result in A2 is equal to... (A2=)..

Hopefully the OP is not completely confused now!
