Any other die hard WinMo users still out there?

...and I mean people that haven't jumped ship to Windows Phone.
WinMo is my favorite mobile OS. It beats iOS, 'cause it's more open (but iOS wins for media) and strangely it beats Android for openness (in my opinion).
With WinMo, I can browse my entire phone's storage, re-arrange the start menu etc. It was the best, but then MS completely changed their views and made a mobile OS that makes even iOS look unrestricted.

So, anyone else still use WinMo?

(currently use HTC Touch Pro2, WM6.5. Previously: HTC Wizard, WM5.0 and Dell Axim X30, WM 2003)

I use a TP2 as well and I don't care for WinMo. I use Android 2.2 on it, but it crashes at least once a day.
Android does run very very good on the TP2 though, nice and fast.

I am running a custom WinMo rom as well and it still runs sluggish.

yeah, it is the slowest WinMo device I have ever seen. I hate it's speed, it consantly kills programs with it's memory 'management' and feels cheap :/
I tried running xdAndroid on it, and it worked for a while but no longer boots.

I am thinking about getting the HTC Arrive next month, it's a Windows Phone 7.

I'm not a huge fan of WP7, mainly because it meant MS stopped all WinMo stuff.
Just a few months after I bought my TP2 to replace my old HTC Wizard, they announced the Arrive/7 Pro. I don't particularly like the tilting hinge, but yeah, it looks like an awesome phone and hopefully it's a lot faster than the TP2. Hope you enjoy it if you get it

I too have a Touch Pro 2 with Win Mobile and though I like it (WinMo) I must admit it's slow as hell. Hopefully my next phone with Win Mobile 7 will be faster.

Funny that we all have touch pro2s with speed issues... You'd think it was a general thing that HTC messed up on... Oh wait, it is!
Surely when you're making a phone, even if it is aimed at business power users, it crosses your mind " hmm, maybe we should make this fast and relatively useable". Lowest RAM usage I've ever got mine to is 60%(aprox) taken up. My old computer with 512MB RAM struggling to run windows 7 could beat that.
Best of luck to all you jumping to WP7. Of you owned WM devices before, especially the TP2 such as the two of you above, enjoy it, you deserve it after the pain HTC put us through.

I wouldn't just put this on HTC as I don't see any Win Mobile phones setting any speed records. In short it's more the OS than the phone, the Touch Pro 2 just happens to use Windows Mobile 6.5.

True. Last non-HTC winmo device I owned was a Dell Axim x30, running WM2003. Now that I think about it, yeah it was still pretty slow. And if I think back to when I got xdAndroid running on my TP2, it was surprisingly fast...
No wonder MS dumped WM and made a completely cutdown WP7. I guess WP7 was their windows 7 as 6.5 and before were their Vista. Looked nice, but very very slow.
