Hi,
I preordered my Win7 prior to launch. Microsoft gave me two versions of the CD a 32-bit and 64 bit. Is it ok or me to run the 32-bit version on an old Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop? The laptop has Vista basic preloaded, and I hate it. Is it illegal for me to do so or is microsoft fine if its less than 3 units runnning the same OS with the same cd-key? I only will use the laptop when I am away from my desktop so not both will be on at the same time.
At first I thought I would trade-in the Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop at Toshiba UK website and get back £74 cashback towards a new Toshiba A660 laptop, but then I spend almost all of my time on my desktop and the only reason I need to use the laptop is if I am on the move which is like 4-5hrs every 2-4 months. I also thought of changing the 60gb HD to a SSD HD of the same capacity? Is it worth it or should I trade in the laptop for the £74 since the 16" Toshiba A660 is lighter than the 14" Dell 1420. Since the new laptop will see very little action, the cost of upgrading does not seem attractive to me.
