Anyone else here give up on tobacco and move to vaping?

I have and feel so much better now. Just curious if anyone else here does as well.

I did try quitting cold turkey but couldnt do it. I think for me its more the habit of doing something than anything.
I've actually cut my nicotine level way down though.
I started at 24mg, which is typical for a 1-2 pack a day smoker and now at 6-8mg.

And yes, the hardware you use makes a HUGE difference but equally so is the E-Juice you use (the PG/VG mix) I prefer 50/50 or 40PG/60VG.

Im using a Provari Mod with a Kayfun Lite Plus Rebuildable currently and love it. It really does make a difference since some flavors taste better at low power and some are much better at higher voltages.
And while the basic pen type E-Cigs do well (have a couple of those too), you just don't have any kind control over the vaping experience with them. They just work thats it.

Does it really work for most people? Any suggestions, cost and where to get them? If I had $1 for every time I had tried to quit, I would probably be a millionaire, but I'm not. But I have probably spent that much on cigarettes.

I'll be totally honest here in my journey.

I tried (and I forget what kind now) one of the cheap pen type at the start and was still smoking. Eventually quit and was smoking after just a few days. It was like a $30 kit. Tasted bad, didn't help cravings ... It was just bad.

Then a friend told me about a place called Volcanoe. Started with the Inferno package. (About $70 USD for a complete kit)
This worked for me for a while. A month or so and I eventually started smoking again. My friend mentioned trying a different juice. Many of the one I tried to that point were just unpleasant.

Then I started trying different E-Juice vendors. Come to realize that my main issue was the E-juice I was using.
From that point it was all about experimenting with different blends and flavors. (Still using the Inferno Package at the time)

From there, I went all out. Provari Mod + Kayfun. A setup like this is amazing but is costly, and probably not something someone wanting to try to get into vaping will want to to do right off the bat.

The difference?
The Kayfun atomizer produces a LOT more flavor from the same juice and its a different vape too. It's hard to explain really.
But where most atomoizers/tanks produce more of a a dry, hot vape.... these tend to produce a more thick, heavy, wet flovorfull vape. Really dense in comparison. It's ard to Explain.

The Provari Mod is just a Variable Voltage mod of high Quality. Sorta like comparing a Mustang to a Ferrari. If thats a good analagy.
But a set up like this will run around $300 USD. 200 for the Provari and 100 for the Kayfun VS $70-75 for something like a Volcano Inferno.

Bottom line, if you want to try it, you do not need to get into the high end mods right off the bat. Though if you like it you may want to.
But, you don't want to get the cheapest kit + cheapest Eliquid either. Find a good mid range to start. If it works for you, and it will for many many smokers, then you can look into the high end gear for more pleasant vaping experience.
But when/if you make that move, bear in mind you'll need to cut back on the nicotine a lot. A lot of the higher end setups hit a lot harder and make some serious clouds.

You can also mix your own Eliquid, Buy it from various Vendors or there a re subscription services too.
I mix my own, but also use ZampleBox.

ZB is a subscription service. They send you Premium Eliquids and coupons every month, so long as you stay subscribed. They are discounted to since you pay $25 monthly and get 6 bottles for the basic package (the one I have).
The downside, you don't know what you'll get. It's just random. But so far everything Ive had has been good save for one I didn't like.
The only thing you control ATM is if want/like tobbacco, menthol, and what Nicotine strength you want.
I love it. great way to find new flavors and vendors you wouldn't have otherwise.
https://www.zamplebox.com/#_l_6g

I think they are worth it for those who want to experiment with different flavors/vendors.

I know two guys at work that have been doing this a while, or the e-cigg thing, some of those contraptions look like smart phones on fire. Anyway one of them was a heavy, I mean heavy smoker. Said he was doing this for his health and family. It's been a few months and seems to be working out. More power to them.
I don't mean to sound crass but you could always know when he was walking by or in a room, smelled like a wet ash tray, and talking to him up close smelled rude. Not any more.

Wishmaster, are you saying this is something like I would need? The INFERNO e-Cigarette I'm not sure it makes a difference for me. It's sort of too late in my base. Maybe wrong site to buy from? I didn't see the one you mentioned on the site you linked to. Maybe I looked in the wrong place.

I am afraid that is completely unintelligible.

I think essenbe and others just want to know what will give them a big enough hit to be a viable substitute for cigarettes.

All these weird names and "mods" are meaningless to me , and probably to smokers also.
Is there a recommendation - e.g - try this "pen" and this "liquid" - with links.

I'll be totally honest here in my journey.

I apologize. I suppose it would seem unintelligible to anyone not familiar with any of it.

Yes, the Volcano Inferno is a very good place to start.
Electronic Cigarettes | E-Cigarettes | VOLCANO E-Cigs

There are others, but I've had significant hands on time with it and its good. I did like a few of their juices, but not many of Volcanoes juices I liked.
Then again, taste is subjective.

Volcano often has little local stores too. Check a local mall perhaps?
Often in the little Kiosks/stores they have things set up so you can sample juices, get hands on all the products too.

They do well and ship promptly from the main site too, but everything ships from Hawaii. And you cant sample things before you buy.

The Inferno Kit will have 2 batteries, charger, Tank, and a juice of your choice to start.
Not a bad deal really. Basically with that kit, your ready to go. Nothing else needed other than maybe charge up.

No Si, you're wrong about me. I'm looking for a way off of it all, not a substitute. There's little advantage in trading one addiction for another.

Thats true essenbe. But, FWIW, heres my take on it.

If you can use it to get away from cigs thats a huge plus. Nicotine is bad, but vapor+Nic is far better than cigs since its only the nicotine without all the other bad stuff.

Once the ciggarette habit is kicked, you be pretty much dependant on the vapor for nic but you can start reducing nicotine levels slowly. ((If like me and cold turkey doesn't work))

Like I mentioned before I started at 24mg (equivalent for a 1-2 pack a day smoker) and am now down to 6-8mg.
Next will be 4mg, then 0,
For me, reducing the amount overtime is working. But I will probably still vape even at 0mg.

Steve pointed me in the direction of this thread as funnily enough yesterday I told him I was quitting cigarettes and starting the vapes.

I bought a kit in the UK from a shop it was not very expensive, around £20GBP and then I bought 3x 10ml refills for it for another £10. I got to say so far so good. I usually smoke 20 cigarettes a day but it's been 10hrs since I started the vapes and I have not wanted a cigarette.

I said to Steve in an email, it's not so much trading one addiction for another, it's still the same addiction (nicotine) but it cuts out most of the harmful stuff.
Cost wise I expect to save around £80 per month which is not to be sniffed at!
