I like how Windows XP mode adds program shortcuts onto the host OS's start menu so you can run virtual programs without starting the Guest OS, and I heard that in Virtual PC this feature is called Auto-publish, is that correct?
Are there any other programs that have a similar feature to auto-publish, being able to launch a virtual program without starting up the guest OS?

virtual box has "Seamless mode" same thing :)

That's true but I prefer auto publish, because you don't have to boot up the VM and enable seamless mode. Do any other VM programs have auto publish??

I don't know of any way to "auto publish" with VMWare Player. You can create a shortcut in Windows startup to launch your VM in unity mode. Just change the .vmx file to match the system you want to start on your own machine.

“C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmplayer.exe”-U “e:\linux\MyHardDrive.vmx”

vmlite has such Auto Publish feature since day one. You can launch a single app with seamless taskbar integration, similar to vpc.
