Is there any way to apply different permissions to users on a work group?

We are all using Windows 7 Professional

All on same workgroup/other VPN

All systems go, but would like to limit some users to certain areas without having to fire up server 2003 domain

Thanks

You can also create Groups, put users into those groups and have permissions applied at the Groups level. For those folders you want to share, share it with groups.

Thanks but it's not answered my question. I'm not trying to set permissions for users of just one machine. There are other computers in the workgroup, for each computer I would like to apply a different set of permissions...if it is possible.

When I look in locations to add a use on another machine in the workgroup there is nothing there except my own machine.

Thanks again

Barry

According the TechNet you need to use the security tab to set permissions for local users. You need to add the name of the local user to the list by using the add button.

This tutorial shows you how starting from step 3 to 7 but you need to add the name of the local user to the list so you can set permissions for them. I havn't tried this myself with local users so I can't say for sure how it works.
