I downloaded Win 7 in hopes of 1) fixing my daily crash in Vista within 20 minutes of booting; 2) playing some old video games in XP mode; 3) using Bitlocker on my USB memory sticks, and so on. So far, not a single one of the improvements I hoped for has worked and the daily crash is exactly the same, except maybe a little faster. Also Itunes 9 won't install on either my Win 7 desktop or new laptop, but never mind. I'll go after one problem at a time here. Also my Windows Media Player is listing CD tracks in Chinese, but never mind that either, I just thought I'd mention it.
So this time: Any ideas about why, in Vista before and now in Win 7, my computer crashes every day without fail, usually within five to twenty minutes after booting, then hardly ever crashes again that day after a reboot in normal mode? Sometimes it crashes as soon as the welcome screen, other times waits for a while.
This only happens on my year-old HP desktop. When I first bought it with Vista it was crashing three or four times a day, but it soon settled into its reliable once a day.
