Any way to hasten Windows 7 updates at this point?

If I install Win7 with SP1 integrated afresh now, it'll still have to slog through hours and GBs of updates most likely. So I was wondering, if for example I install IE11 manually, wouldn't that save the time taken to install updates for IE8 (or whatever version comes with SP1)? Same with the latest .NET perhaps? Or is this a foolish idea? Any other way to hasten the updates?

well; yes; you might be able to try doing it that way; however; in the end it might just end up taking the same amount of time to download and install the rest of the updates as the size of some of the other updates may just be as big as ie etc.

As far as I know their are no tricks to speed up the Windows 7 Updates.

It takes (X) amount of time to download and install (X) amount of Windows 7 Updates no matter what fashion you get them form Microsoft.

I would suggest just using Windows 7 Updates in the normal update fashion.
