Hi...first time poster...I am new to WIN 7 64...I would like to purchase a 64g SDXC to compliment my new tablet. I already have a 160 SSD, but man, is it filling up fast!

I use OneNote to record audio and video, and want to use the SDXC as the backup drive to store this infomation.

I have searched the web, and I found the WIN 7 drivers for SDXC (or SD over 32g)...will these drivers update my reader too? Can Anybody steer me in the right direction to find this out BEFORE I buy?

Thanks in advance...and thanks for what appears to be a great site and community

You could also put in a 2TB hard drive in an external case for backup, but a recent Windows 7 update should address SD cards over 32GB.

That's great news, and what I was hoping to find out...so your pretty sure my reader will work with just the driver update?

It should, but consider all options before choosing. How much space would you need it?

well if I get one...I'll go for the Kingston 64g class 10.

The safe route, if I can't get a firm answer, would be the 32g sdHC, which will work...but the speed (not to mention the size) is so much better on these SDXC cards

32GB enough?

I think some of us are confused, what tablet/reader are you talking about?
Specifics please....

I was going to say same as NTFS, cheaper and fast too, HD in enclosure that you just leave at home and plug into the laptop as needed for data backup and retrieval, I use them myself, get software that will just do automatic incremental backups and restores and it's golden.

My critical stuff all fits on my 16-gig pen drive, $35.

Yah...I know, probably is, but I webcam and record lectures, and they get pretty big...Onenote makes 2 backups (which has been a blessing before) so the space get used up quickly...but I also am entrigued by the speed difference of the XC vs HC cards. Figure it may be a better fit to my SSD...But of course, it will have to work. Thanks again for your help

The reader, it the multti-reader In my tablet PC,sorry for not being for clear.

I just want to know if after the WIN 7 driver update, I can use this card reader to "read" the new SDXC format.

The card may be overkill, I know, but I am interested, IF it will work! :D

BTW...you guys are really responsive...Thanks!

Open up device manager and see if the reader makes any mention of the cards you want. If it is relatively new, it should have support.

What is says is that it is a SDA standard compliant SD host controller. I am kind-of a nube here, so not sure if this means it should work or not.

I HAVE NOT applied any driver update yet either. Thanks for your assistance!

I found this "excerpt" on HPs site, although its not my PC (it covers an older model) it "appears" that with the drivers, and WIN 7 update...SDXC cards should work...you guys see it that way too?
