Anyone here have Synchronicity by The Police?

Hey everyone. I just bought the Synchronicity album by The Police on CD because I wanted to replace the cassette I had (haha, yeah, I know, ancient stuff), and I really like this album a lot, but just like before, I still have a problem with the song "Mother" -- it's got to be one of the most annoying songs I've ever heard in my opinion. Can somebody enlighten me as to how I can learn to appreciate that track? I'm afraid I just don't get it. I know it's supposed to be very abrasive and discordant and all that, but I feel like I'm going to end up skipping it when I rip the CD to my Zune.

That's what I ended up doing. Although, I'm becoming a bigger and bigger fan of Sting lately, since in addition to Synchronicity I also bought Dream of the Blue Turtles and Ten Summoner's Tales, both of which I like a lot.

Curious, I assume you're referring to "Every Breath You Take" in which the phrase "I'll be watching you" appears in the lyrics, correct? I agree, it's a great song, but at any rate, the central protagonist in that song sure sounds like he's obsessed with somebody to an unhealthy degree. I was once told that's really what it was about.

I saw The Police in S.F. in 1978 I think it was. Punk was very big, and they were billed as a punk band, but obviously they were not. They had some very good songs already, and put on a good show. A Guy

LOL, now that the video was posted, I can say that I actually have heard that song before. I wasn't sure at first based on just the title.

Today's version would probably have something to do with being late on child support payments and what have you.
