Working for a radio station, I've been using Cool Edit Pro on XP machines for serveral years. Now have Windows 7 Pro with XP virtual built in. However, I cannot get Cool Edit to recognize the line in in the Virtual machine, and it of course doesn't work at all in Win 7. Has anyone had success in getting this app to work?

Cool Edit Pro is gone and now called Adobe Audition. XP Virtual isn't all its cracked up to be and with the old program who knows. Are you using the old XP sound drivers in the Virtual? There are some sound functions that are handled differently in Vista/Win 7 and one issue with old XP programs.

I have a recording studio (using Sonar X1) but I also use Goldwave for audio editing. It is Win 7 compatible. Goldwave is a shareware program but worth the $$. www.goldwave.com

The free Audacity audio recording program, which is also Win 7 compatible, has some edit features but not as extensive as Goldware. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
