I found some great software this guy wrote.....

But his game I think causes a bsod. Can anyone test for me?

Its a safe site, I scanned it with every site scanner known to man.

He has a cool matrix screensaver as well as this game that I linked to. Game works great while your playing it, but as soon as you exit out of it, it causes a bsod.

Anyone willing to test?

I just want to make sure its not my system. Although I am positive its his game as I have never had a bsod in my life and it only happens when closing out of his game. Otherwise full ram and cpu load on my system nothing bad happens.

I did already email the developer.

Replicate issue:

Game settings:

All default, except run in a window is chosen. Terrain is set to high. Sound playback is at 44k.

If I close out of the game when the current game is in progress it crashes.

if it crashes as you are closing the game; then yes; i would definitely say its the game thats causing it. Especially if you have already scanned it with several scanners.

I suspect that this thing was written for XP - it refused to run in a 32-bit VM I have, and it crashed every time in my 64-bit live machine.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000007e (0xffffffffc0000094, 0xfffff96000705577, 0xfffff88008bf5778, 0xfffff88008bf4fd0). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 012514-37502-01.

and no - you can't have the 800MB memory dump before Monday at the earliest! )

Thanks you guys. Thanks Noel. Ya I figured as much. It sucks cause the game is a lot of fun. Anyone know of a free arcade shooter spaceship game similar to that one? That isn't packed full of adware and toolbars and opencandy?

I have found plenty, but they are all filled with junk.

EDIT: The author of the software contacted me back! He says he will look into it if he could understand the bsod file. So yoyo if I give you the information perhaps you can say what happened and I can pass the info along to him?

I could link him to this thread but its in vip...so i guess that would not work...I just didn't want to post it into the chillout forum cause I didn't want unknowing users getting scared of bsods.

I don't think that the Kernel dump would be necessary let's try the minidump first .
I'd hate for you to upload it, just copy the current MEMORY.dmp elsewhere so it won't get

OK I feel fairly confident I might figured out the issue.

The debugger gives us a good lead here.

Probably caused by : cdd.dll ([COLOR=Red][U] cdd!PresentWorkerThread+20b[/U][/COLOR] )

Using !error we are presented with the NTSTATUS code. (NTSTATUS codes usually start with a c00000xxx).

Is it my computer in any way shape or form causing the issue? I don't think so but want to make sure. I am confident I have all the latest drivers. I am very OCDish about having everything up to date.

It is his program that is the issue correct? I am very confident that is correct but just panicked making sure its not my system in some way.

Hey, you can breath freely is not your machine nor is it anyone else's.
The best info we can give the author is look for a division by zero somewhere in his methods
Have him run it in debugging mode and look for them when closing the game / right after launching it.
I also noticed that the latest version is from 2008 which makes me think it wasn't built with Windows 7 in mind.

Thanks for the info- I did a bit of trawling around regarding bsods in Cdd.dll and it see to be a common problem when running games and other things on win7. There are a few matches on the forum you mentioned too. It might be worth seeing if any of the things people are talking about seem familiar.

I have a couple of problems fixing this; the primary one is that the compiler that was used is extinct, also I don't have windows 7 (!). If I can come up with a way of replicating it the I'll let you know
