From Computer properties - click on the upgrade link

If you have an anytime upgrade key (not a normal upgrade Key), you can select the second option.

To purchase an anytime upgrade key follow the first link on the page

If you have a valid regular pro upgrade key and disk you should be able to upgrade your existing install using the normal procedure.

If you do not have a disk but have a key then I would suggest you contact microsoft directly to see if they can provide a suitable solution

I may be wrong but I think u will actually have to buy the upgrade. U cannot just use the Home Premium key.

Regards,

It's too bad that you didn't buy the Pro version directly. I believe that it's the same price as Home Premium in the student discount program.

I alos believe that you couldn't use a key from Win7 Pro purchased through the educational program as an Anytime Upgrade key. You'd have to re-install.

I will not miss such an option to upgrade to Pro instead of Home ..
but there was no other option .. Only win 7 Home

I'm not a student, but the deal in Canada appears to be the same as in the US. (Home Premium or Pro, same price.)

I hope that Digital River can accomodate you.

Maybe somebody will learn something from my experince ..

I loged again to my account with digital river .. and place new order
(finally win 7 pro) was an available option ..

after 30 min I get the confirmation email ... with product key

The most important thing .. is

I used the product key that I received as (Any time upgrade) key ..

And Woow .. it works perfectly and after 10 min's, I am using Win pro 7 !! no data lost .. no backup ..

That's true I paid $39 CAD twice, but I opened a ticket with digital and requesting refund ..

The bottom line as .. even with product key .. you can use this key as any time upgrade .. at least this works perfectly with me ...

Thanks for every body for your help ...

Hi,

It says there buy pro for $39.99 - right above where it says Home Premium.

If they just added it, let's hope you get a refund on HP.

I am reading several posts a day from students using Pro keys to unlock Windows Anytime Upgrade from Premium.

I wonder if this is peculiar to the DR key, like when they found out it was full retail instead of Upgrade advertised?

Does anyone else know if retail keys work in Anytime Upgrades? If so, could this be MS liberalizing this feature as they did with Upgrade to formatted disk?

Having an unlockable upgrade rather than in-place would be bigger business for them I'd bet. Why wouldn't they allow something so simple?
