Anyway to resize BR 720p videos without losing quality?

Hello,

I would like to know if there is a way to resize (the size of the video itself not the resolution of the screen) , let's say a movie that is Blu Ray 720p which in size is about 7GB to 4.3xGB .. How do I do that?

And how the hell does a group like SecretMyth convert a full Blu Ray 720p movie which normally takes 4-8GB to a full Blu Ray 720p movie but only takes up to 1.5GB without losing any notable quality?

What I mean is, how to shrink the file size without effecting the quality..

I think you really can't. But the quality difference may not be noticable. Easiest way to "shrink" is to try another codec (filetype). You can experiment with Format Factory and see which result you like. E.g. .wmv to .avi or .mp4 should save about 75%. Even more to .flv.

I am just uploading a little video tutorial for Format Factory. I will post it later - i never know how much time Vimeo may take to convert and post it. But it should be less than 1 hour since it is only 26MBs.

The upload is complete. They tell me that they will convert it in 40 minutes - if you don't pay, they put you at the end of the queue, LOL.
Btw: What is the filetype of the video you have?

Hmm, this is an iffy proprietory codec owned by Matroska. I never had to deal with one of those. I hope the conversion will work. I saw this link and the matter seemed to be very involved. But let's see.
Vimeo started the conversion of my video tutorial. It should only take a few more minutes.

Here you find the tutorial. On the bottom right of the little screen is the control for full screen.

PS: I just saw it runs very fast. So let it buffer for a couple of minutes - start it and then stop it and wait before you rstart. Nothing ever works perfectly.
Try to convert the .mkv to .avi. My guess would be that this is the best option.

#Then your going to need to download AviSynth,

# Then your going to need Nero AAC (Audio Codec) its excellent for compression.
Nero - Nero AAC Codec
# Install Nero ACC executable files in the MeGUI folder
# Restart your PC
#Start up MeGUI once its loaded press "CTRL+R", That will open "AVISynth Script Creator"

1. Select the source movie you want to encode.
2. Make sure "Resize" Is UNTICKED.
3. Click save and save the script.

After that..
1. The AVS file you just made should already be selected if not then select it.
2. If the OUTPUT of the encoded file isn't pre defined define it now.
3. Make sure the Codec is set at "x264"
4. Make sure "MKV" is selected as the file container.
5. Select the original video source as the audio input.
6. If the audio output isn't yet defined define it now.
7. Select "NAAC" in Encoding Settings the audio profile it provides perfect compression to bitrate ratio.
8. Select "MP4-AAC" as the audio extension.
9.Click AutoEncode.

1. Select the container as "MKV"
2. Define your desired output of the encoded movie
3. Make sure the radio button is selected, And define the file size as 300MB or 400MB depending on the length of the movie (Try to get the bitrate at 450ish)
4. Select "Queue"
5. Go to the Queue tab once your back on the main MeGUI page and select "Start" down the bottom
