Solved APP data roaming folder

What is the purpose of this folder ? Why is it that when I make links in excel it redirects to this folder location ? How do I tell excel that I do not want it to change my links. ? I read that the app data roaming folder has to do with a server environment.

I just tried this. Instead of creating a hyperlink I just put this in the excel cell:
C:\MTFILES\MT35-Dup-BurlClubChairRoutedPanel.jpg this pulled the file up. Maybe this will work ?

No that does not work. Excel must change what I put for a hyperlink. SO much for workflow. What ever is going on with that roaming folder Microsoft sure must like it a lot.
when I put the files in the crazy folder it then changes the link again to :
..\Users\MTC%20COMPANY\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Users\MTC%20COMPANY\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\Users\MTC%20COMPANY\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\Users\MTC%20COMPANY\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\Users\MTC%20COMPANY\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\MT35B-BurlClubChairwithBarrellMagRack.jpg
its just insanity/

I see this is problem many have. "The cause may be related to sharing". THere MUST be a way to make a link in excel that can not be tampered with by the software. Can anyone think of a work around ? Some type of object I could insert and re link. Or maybe put the location of the link in a note ? This really messes with the usefulness of excel

I may finally have a work around for excel changing hyperlinks. When I put{this} right in the cell it seams to see it in a link. I do not think Microsoft can change what I put in a cell. {file:///C:\mt files\mt28 Barrel Chair Red Black .JPG} So I put this right in the cell and it does link to my picture. Once its open in windows picture viewer I can copy and paste into a email. It would be so nice to make this simple function work. NOPE wrong again. Excel is just not going to let my do this simple

Microsoft just insists on showing me who is boss. they get to put COMPANY\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\MT-28A-SitykiBird.jpg in my link and when I put a file in that folder they specify it wont find that file. So the usefullness of hyperlinks is only useful for what ? there must be some reason that they went though all this trouble to make it so it wont work ?!

App Data\Roaming is a system folder contains settings which are installed by your programs. It's not a data folder that you can store your own files in. My "Roaming" contains, among other things, my profiles for my Mozilla products, my settings for Chrome, Skype, etc. The only time I touch that folder is when copying my Mozilla profiles to another computer. But I don't change files.

Set the folder back to where it was, and don't change anything.

One of the fastest ways to have a reason for getting and using Windows Repair Install or getting and using full image backups: altering Windows Prime's system settings. Follow RoWin7's advice and thy Windows shall live at least another day.

What I need to be able to is to create a hyperlink into excel that excel has no way of changing. That is what everyone needs.
