I am an architecture student and I recently bought Apple's new 24" cinema display to use alongside my MBP for AutoCAD and other Autodesk products. All of my programs run great in Windows 7 using bootcamp, but I can't figure out how to connect my external monitor. I have messed with the control panel settings for a couple of weeks and no luck. It just shows up as a Generic PnP monitor. I've tried messing with the display settings window, I've tried reinstalling all Leopard OS drivers, I've been looking on forums....it sounds like people have gotten this to work but I am still missing something. If anyone could give me some help, it would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't tried pressing "Windows + X" to bring up the window's mobility center...would that be a way of "turning on" the external display?

One thing that I have noticed that drives me crazy is that the sound works out of the external monitor's speakers....just nothing on the screen.

It sounds like the Win 7 graphics adapter driver you're using doesn't recognize the external monitor capability. Unfortunately the graphics adapter driver determines the capabilities, so unless it gets updated to reflect the external monitor capability you may be out of luck. Can you get a Win 7 / Vista driver for the particular graphics chipset in the Mac Book?

I'm not sure I may have a driver for this installed I'm just not sure which one it would be. If I know I have a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 512MB graphics card...which driver should I use....the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M?...because I tried that and it didn't work for me.

Where could I go to get a windows 7 driver for this?

I would first check the Nvidia website. It looks like you actually have two adapters built in, so load both drivers - the 9400M and the 9600M GT.

Sorry, but I just want to make sure this is what I should do....

http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_win7_x64_186.03_whql.html

I found the 186.0 NVIDIA driver release on the NVIDIA website posted above. It lists that both the 9400M and the 9600M GT as being covered under this. So if I'm hearing you correctly, I already have the adapters I just need the driver?...which would possibly be this download from the NVIDIA website?

The NVIDIA driver works like a charm. Thank you so much for ending my two weeks of misery. You have no idea how good this feels to get this monitor working.

24" Apple Cinema Display and isight, etc.

I am running Windows 7 x64 on a home made PC (i.e. not an apple). I use the 24" Apple Cinema Display. The display works perfectly. I want, however, to be able to use the other features of the display: isight, usb hub, the audio. But, the most important is isight. I have the bootcamp drivers form the snow leopard dvd (my wife is a mac user). But I haven't been able to make use of them successfully. Does anybody know of a way of making it work?

What would cause the camera to work on an apple with bootcamp, but not on a non-apple PC.

Thanks!

There may be 'Hackintosh' style methods, but most forums prohibit discussions of hacking of this type... I'd suggest a true 'Hackintosh' forum would more likely yield any possible answers... if the iSight is still a firewire device then i haven't heard of any mainstream drivers for it that work for Windows...
