I recently installed Nikon Capture NX2, however, when I tried to start it following install, it brings up the "Capture NX2 has topped working, pleas wait while...." error message as soon as I have clicked on the start menu entry.

The message also comes up when I try to run it from "C:\Program Files\Nikon\Capture NX"

Can anybody help?

Have you tried selecting "run as administrator" on the compatibility tab of it's properties?

Yes, I think it may be a corrupt installation, however I tried installing it from the same executable again and the same error occurrs.

--edit--
I ran it again, and the error report said there were a couple of files that 'describe the file'
I have attached them in a zipfile.

It's possible that a corrupt installation is caused by a corrupt executable, even though it may have worked in the past. Are you installing it from a CD or from a downloaded file on your drive?

Its from a downloaded file, however I tried installing it from a newly downloaded copy of the file and the same error came up. As edited in my last post, however, it gave some crash information, however I don't know how to read/interpet them so they are attached in a zip.

Sorry, I can't personally interpret them myself, and my Crash Analyzer aborted when I tried to run the mdump file. Someone else here may be able to make sense of them, but I would recommend attaching them to an email sent to the manufacturer's tech support. If anyone can understand them, they should.

EDIT: Another thought occurred....did you check the Event Viewer to see if you could find anything there about it?

When I tried to run the event Viewer, it returns the error (in the event viewer window)

Hi, I reinstalled windows (as a result of a number of errors) and they all seem to be fixed now, thankyou for your time, it was very much appreciated. It seems that the third install was the charm, hopefully this wont jinx it!!

Many thanks
