hi,

i did a fresh re-install of Win7 on my i5 machine with 4gb RAM. After few days, lagging of softwares applications, pictures etc started. So i performed scandisk at bootup, showed 2 bad sectors. Lateron ran diskdefrag, it did good.

Bt now sometimes any application (firefox, windows explorer, media player etc) shows "not responding" for sumtime & resumes.

During this error, Process explorer shows "destop window manager" not responding. So i switched to classic view bt still no use.

whot might b the problem ??? plz help me solve it ...

Did you use the same copy of Windows as previously installed? And did you complete all rounds of updates and drivers?

If sfc can't manage it, my honest opinion is to go ahead with a reformat, or a repair install.
The more complicated way would be to look over the sfc log discover what couldn't be repaired and to attempt to replace the files manually through command line. Which is doable, but if you've never done it before it's going to be just as time consuming as another reformat would be.

First thing would be to run disk check once more just to make sure the problem on the disk is in fact solved.

if disk check finds errors, I would go ahead and try the admin execution method outlined for sfc in the first link I gave you again, and see if the problem corrects. If disk check is clean I stand by my previous (it may just be easier to repair install/reformat.)

Normally I wouldn't suggest repair install so quickly but since this was a fresh windows installation anyway, I think you can get away with it.

Anyhow repair install keeps data but resets windows and all related files to the original install state.
Reformatting obviously would require you backup anything important first. Both options below.

hopefully those links are still good, they're pretty old, I haven't been around the site lately.

If it's getting persistent, I would suggest going to the website for whoever made the harddrive and grabbing their disk tools, so far as I know they all offer brand specific drive tools on their support pages.
