Hello,

I am running a windows 2003 domain and I am trying to get a software deployment group policy to work on a windows 7 machine.

The gpo is set to install a software package on the machine by using the computer part of the gpo that is assign to an OU in the 2003 AD.

I have a different group policy that has both the user and computer setting set in group policy and I have notice when I do a gpresult command on a windows 7 machine it only shows the user part of the group policy and not the computer part of the gpo.

The group policy with just the computer setting set does not show up when I do the gpresult command on the windows 7 machine.

Should the group policy be able to apply both the user and computer setting of the gpo?

I created the gpo on a windows 2003 server is this the problem?

Does windows 7 support gpo that are created on a windows 2003 server?

What do I have to do to be able to use a group policy to push a software package to a windows 7 computer that is in an OU in a 2003 domain?

Thank You
Sidney

Honestly, using Server 2003 on Exchange, which is what I assume you are on, is something I wouldn't do. I would be on Server 2008. We are on Server 2008 and have no issues with such things.

I know easier said than done, but maybe someone else has a workaround for you, but i'm thinking you might have hit the nail on the head.

I have the same problem. Not to hijack this thread but our dc is a windows server 2003 running on domain functional level of 2000( its showing in gpresult ). User settings are taken over by my windows 7 testpc, but no computer settings @ all. Im trying to isolate the problem but im not quite getting there. Any suggestions? Maybe the original poster can tell me what he did?
