Appropriate permissions required

I am the only user of this laptop and am the Administrator.......never the less I find that I get messages such as....
Windows cannot access the specific device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item, which in this case is D: my disk drive which has everyone permissions for full control.

Regardless if I am Administrator - Guest or user.....cannot open D: with left click.
To access files I have to right click.
