April 10, 2018 - KB4093118 (Monthly Rollup) Windows 7

If they get superseded by another update, they will usually no longer be available.

Brink. This morning I uninstalled KB 4093113 from Installed Updates, downloaded KB 4093118 from the MS website & installed it. This then showed KB 4093113 was waiting in new Updates to be installed, so I installed it. The installation was successful. It now shows both KB 4093113 & KB 4093118 as being successfully installed. However KB 4093113 is the only one showing in Installed Updates.

I must admit this is confusing as KB 4093113 is shown as an Optional Update, while KB 4093118 is shown as an Important Update, it doesn't show in Installed Updates.

This seemed to fix the glitch that was plaguing some with KB 4093118 continually showing up for installation.

win7 is strange in my case, sometimes the optional or hidden updates disappear and in some days show up.

Microsoft's approach to its updates has gone seriously downhill over the last couple of years. Pretty much ever since they decided to move to this "roll-up" release type of updating. How long is this industry going to put up with so many bugs and failures, in Microsoft's updates? Microsoft were forced into picking their game up, with regards to buggy updates, back in the early 2000s and yet, this time round, the industry seems to be all too apathetic about this distinct loss of quality and reliability. Have we really become so compliant and complicit, in this abusive relationship? #pickyourgameupmicrosoft

I have not done any update since May last year and have been going through them and catching up, I only do important ones and don't blindly do all of those either. I now only have kb4093118 left to do along with a MSRT. I have read and read as to if I should install kb4093118 or not, there are lots of grey areas around it. As I have not been installing since last year I think I have missed all the malarky with broken patches so in my case do you think its ok to update with kb4093118

No, there is no need to install KB 4093118. In fact is seems to be superseded by KB 4093113.

To stop it continually reappearing, Right Click on that pending update & select Hide.

I am more confused now because KB 4093113 is sitting in my Optional listed as a preview and being ignored by me. KB 4093118 is in my important section

KB 4093118 does show up an an Important Update. But as you might have seen in my Post #21 above I uninstalled KB 4093113 after I had installed it & then I installed KB 4093118 & after it had installed I reinstalled KB 4093113. I then checked in Installed Updates & KB 4093118 did not show as having been installed, even though it had previously been shown as Important.

The consensus on this Forum is to Hide KB 4093118 & forget about it.

Thanks for your help. I thought that advice was just for people with the constant install loop caused by the previous update mess.

Just to be clear - I have not done any updates since last May and so have missed a lot of the mess.

I got some of my info on here talking about not to install previews
And here saying dont install KB 4093113 but do install KB 4093118 as the loops caused by first having KB 4093113

I do keep my computer right up to date with Updates, but that is probably just my preference.

With all the current problems with systems being hacked by undesirables & the likelihood of virus infections, keeping up to date is important, but MS have made some updates a bit of a mine field, although I have never experienced any problems, but a lot of people have.

Hi,
Nothing really wrong with this December rollup
It would at least get you updated through 2017 like mine are :)
Download it and manually install it
