Once upon a time it was possible to create Boot Menu where it was possible to select where you were, like "Office, or "Home" for example, and get the script to modify your IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DNS and NTP settings, and change the programs that ran at Startup to suit.

Is this still possible with Windows 7 please?

Thanks

Andy.

When boot menus are mentioned I harken back to my MS-DOS 5 or 6 and Windows 3.xx days and things like HDM/Hard Disk Menu which could be set to do as desired. However if I were needing to do in later versions of Windows I'd look at creating unique Users, one for each function desired such as My Office or My Home then when logging into each could make settings as desired with would be different from other Users.

Hey, I remember meddling with boot menus during DOS 3.3-6.22, Windows 3.1-Windows for Workgroups 3.11.
Meanwhile, I can't find a whole lot that can be done within Windows 7 boot menu. bcdedit has some command lines that will do this & that & the other. Once you have displaybootmenu=on, you have some choices from picking default Windows boot, or F8'g into the Safe Mode and diagnostics boot screen. msconfig can be used to open more choices, however, use cautiously and carefully.

Oh how I must be showing my age, judging by the replies. LOL!

I must admit I hadn't thought of creating different User Accounts, or known that they would affect the Network Settings. Obvious now it's been mentioned but it would affect the startup programs perfectly.

Thanks Berton, I'll give it some investigation.

Thanks All too!
