Solved Are my audio drivers being re-installed at every boot?

Oh. just saw you posted the same time.

Just re-read the MS documentation. If we're going to try the highest verbosity set LogLevel to 0x2000ffff

I already changed it to 0, so that's what I'm sending, but I would be happy to put it back to verbose. I have had no reason to change the log settings and I can't think of anything that happened on the 12th (except maybe the problem started?) I don't know.

I boot
balloon says installing new devices -5 seconds
error notification appears in the tray. goes away by itself -10 seconds
all is well.

Just returned from a visit to Home Depot. Saw the file you uploaded. That should do just fine for now. Will take me awhile to sort through it. One question: Look in Device Manager, expand all categories and tell me if you see any devices with a yellow ! icon.

Some quick feedback..

First, I'm not an expert at reading these files. The information is cryptic and there's a lot in them I still don't understand (but exercises like these help me keep learnin' :)

From best I can tell, the first device install failure is related to LoopBe30. I think the installer can't find a required driver file. Do you have LoopBe30 installed? Or did you install it once and uninstall it?

If it is installed i suggest you uninstall and then reinstall the latest version. If you think it's uninstalled, then you have remnants left behind

yes, LoopBe30 is the software device I listed. It acts like it can't find it, throws an error, then finds it.

I think I should uninstall all 4 audio devices and then re-install.
What do you think?

I have to go now. I'm going to reinstall these 4 devices and report back in a day.

ComputerGeek, thank you, sir.
and Merry Christmas!

Yea. Reinstall sounds like a good next step. I advise you look through CtlPnl->Programs and Features and manually uninstall devices from there. Then look online for the latest drivers.

Here's the devices i see having problems:
> LoopBe30
> AudioBox USB Audio
> Creative SB X-Fi

And Merry Christmas to you too! (And to all a good night :) )

/* EDIT */
p.s. When you reinstall, right click each installer and Run as Admin

I was away for the holiday visiting relatives. I've just finished re-installing the problem audio equipment and the problem is solved! :) :)

My M-Audio 2x2 MIDI interface connection has disappeared though, so that was probably the problem? The re-install couldn't be completed because of unknown errors and W7 can't 'see' it when I plug and unplug it. That is a POS anyway -- took me 2 hours to install it the first time.

I do have printer related errors in the event viewer now also. The printer is located on my wife's network computer. Re-installing the drivers produced the same unknown errors as the 2x2 box. Anyway, I'll try to solve that & post a new thread if I can't solve it.

Thanks! Thanks!
