Are my specs good enough for Win7 Prof 64bit?

I am going to do the student windows 7 upgrade from my current vista. I only have 2.5gb of ram right now and was wondering if I should upgrade to 32 or 64. I am probably going to be upgrading to 4gb of ram in the next month or so, but in the meantime would my system suffer from only having 2.5gb in 64bit? For example would I still be able to play games like starcraft 2 without taking a huge performance hit over what I have right now on my 32bit vista.

thank you

You ram usage would go up, but I think you will be fine. You'll probably get between 35-45% on idle.

I used the Upgrade Advisor and it said I would have to do the custom installation to go from 32bit to 64bit. Will I be able to do this with the windows 7 upgrade download or will I have to buy OEM dics seeing as how it needs to be wiped?

The iso you download will need to be burned to a DVD using imgburn or similar software either way. It is supposed to be a full copy if I remember correctly, so you don't need to worry about whether you upgrade or clean install. Also, if you install on the current partition without formatting, your personal files will still be on the HDD in a windows.old folder, but you will need to reinstall all your programs and drivers.
