Asap help - Network Tasks place

Hi everyone! I've been using a lot of HTML lately, and I got this new CD. But the directions need me to use the Network Tasks place, but I have no idea where that is. At first I used Homegroup, but that wasn't it. I need HELP!

Well, it's a Microsoft CD that comes with a book called "Step by Step: HTML and XHTML" by Faithe Wempen. I got it at Borders. It gives me some HTML info and a tutorial. It's really easy to understand, and it's really interesting. Never mind that.

What are you trying to do, EXACTLY?

Don't be shy please, that is needed detail, and you didn't provide it in last reply to be blunt.

I just looked that book up, it's circa 2006 which might be the problem, are you just looking for an editor for those 2 languages?

I'd search on tucows.com and softpedia.com for one in that scenario.

It's after installing the CD. You have to create a network location for the HTML thingy. Does that help?

I am thinking this is wanting you to set up a folder on the C drive which you will use to hold the webpages you develop or to install the folders for the examples included in the CD


Edit: ^^^^^ I am probably wrong on this, but I do know it is needed for you to have a place on your C drive to hold your webpages. I have googled, but finding nothing on "Network Task Places".

If you are wanting to do HTML for fun or as hobby then this is probably a good book and starting point. If you are looking to start making webpages, I would get a more up-to-date book as coding standards are changing.

Ok solved your issue.

Since the book is circa 2006 it will be written generally for the OS of that time (XP) there is such a place in Windows XP however not on Vista/7.

So what you need to do is just create a new folder similar to C:\Websites\Projects or something and tell the software to point to that.

What happens is when you create and save websites, all the related HTML file written go into this folder (Similar to what a web dev would do on a FTP) so you can view the website on your PC before actually using it.

I will offer some advice to you, I love your ambition to learn something and buy some books etc, however I would advise to use the free tools on the web first and when you feel comfortable doing HTML buy the more advanced books, and when you start making good money off it buy the basic books as you will always refer to them, and there is nothing more pleasing then someone you know starting to learn and you lend them the book or give it to them for their own use.

Anyways, let me know how you get on, I will surf around and see if anyone else has a solution incase it does not let save to a specified folder anywhere.
