Hi,

I have a problem when I try to write a greek symbol using ASCII code.
Whenever I type ALT+0248 (which on an XP 32 bit would give me a "PHI" symbol), on my Windows 7 pro 64bit all I get is an empty square :sarc: ...
I tryed changing the language (Romanian to English(US) and vice-versa) and still nothing ...
Other ASCII codes work but some dont .... The "PHI" is the most important one, as I use it in SolidEdge (3D CAD).

If anyone can give a solution to my problem I would be verry happy :)

I just tried in Word 2007 and in notepad and ALT 0248 gives me a phi. What app are you typing in? Also, you need to have numlock on and type the digits only on the numeric keypad.

Too many to describe...
OS
Windows 7 x64 pro/ Windows 7 x86 Pro/ XP SP3 x86
I have this problem in SolidEdge, a 3D CAD program made by Siemens.

Numlock is enabled, and of course I type on the numeric keypad. I tryed also in OpenOffice writer and there it works ... also in notepad

I supose it has something to do with SE .. but I cant seem to find the problem ... it worked great on the other PC without having to make a SPECIAL setting ... I'm stil waiting for a response on SE forum ...

Thanks btw :)

Alt + 227 will not alwyas produce Pi, on Windows 7 Professional without the LIPs installed Alt + 227 is Ò, other regional variations of Windows will differ too this is not limitted to Win 7.

Which font is SE using? Not all fonts contain all of the special characters. Some do, and some only contain a selection.

Hi, out of date, but I hope to help someone, here the steps to solve this issue

1.- Open Control Panel/Region and Language.
2.- Go to 'Administrative' tab.
3.- On section 'Language for non-Unicode programs', click the button (Change system locale...)
4.- Select the language of your country, same language to your keyboard preconfigured in (Keyboards and Languages)

Note: In my case, I have Spanish Latin American from México as preferred keyboard and Spanish (México) in Administrative.
This solved my problems with ASCII codes.

Pd: Sorry for bad English ^^

Could anyone help me?
My Windows says that ,,The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant". Anyone knows what that means?
If yes, how can I escape from that?
